A group of hackers called Team Swastika published the details of 10,000 Facebook accounts on Pastebin, the website that recently became the place where cybercriminals brag with their accomplishments.

TeamSwastika

According to the Counter Measures, Team Swastika claims to be the most powerful hacking team in Nepal, their next target being the websites belonging to government agencies of the country. They have already caused concern by publishing database tables and user credentials stolen from the websites of the Indian Embassy in Nepal and the Government of Bhutan, apparently by SQL injection attack.

Their slogan is “Fight for justice. Justice to freedom. Never give up. Never back down”. Their logo is a swastika but it is the result of a combination of 4 ‘L’s, “(Good) Luck”, “Love”, “Light” and “Life”. We will wait to see how powerful this new group is.

Lujendra from Nepal, first to spot water signs on Mars

Lujendra Ojha , a geosciences senior, found possible signs of liquid water on Mars through his research using a special high-resolution camera. About 700 undergraduates around the U.S. applied to present their research at the Posters on the Hill event in Washington, D.C., on April 13, and 74 students, including Ojha, were chosen.

Ojha has co-authored study in the journal of Science suggesting that there is the flow of liquid water during summer season on the Mars.

An undergraduate intern at the university´s Department of Planetary Sciences, Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, Lujendra stumbled upon the discovery while working on an independent project with Professor Alfred McEwen, lead author of the study. University of Arizona researcher Colin Dundas, a collaborator in the study, was interested in gullies on Mars which may be remnants of past water activity, a CNN blog by Elizabeth Landau says, and the researchers were looking for seasonal changes in those gullies.

The Washington Post reported: “The dark streaks were initially noticed by a student at the school in images sent back by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO). The pixelated images were taken as far back as 2007, but with so much data coming in from space missions, they had remained unstudied. McEwan suggested that the student - geophysics junior Lujendra Ojha - examine over time the locations with streaks, and Ojha found that the streaks changed dramatically by season.”

Lujendra is excited by the new discovery that may well be a significant step in establishing the possibility of life on Mars. "That would be exciting. That´s kind of like the holy grail of science: To find our neighbor, to find life on some other planet," the CNN blog quotes him as saying.

Teej 2011 in collaboration with Maiti Nepal

Hello Bay Area friends, Namaste !

We are a group of Chelibeti from the bay area working together to change lives. Our mission is to help provide funds for the improvement in education, health, and other social requirements for all the needy residents back home in Nepal. As we all know, we have a lot of people back in Nepal who struggles every day to make a living, and desperately needs our help. The value of a  dollar that we earn here in the USA, could be so much more valuable to some people there, and it could even change their lives in so many ways.

Taking this vision in our minds, we Chelis came up with different ideas of how we can do our part to brighten those people’s lives. Thus, we decided to organize events where everyone could have a get-together, and the same time , we could send our raised funds to those who really needs it.For the first time in Bay area, we Chelis have organized an event where all our funds will go to the Maiti Nepal Organization. We have thousands and thousands of women back home who have been trafficked through a lot of dark times, and now are safely being rescued by the friends in Maiti Nepal. 100% of the funds we make on this day will be sent for the welfare of these brave women! And due to the fact that it’s a great Women’s cause we’ve decided to take this chance to celebrate our Nepali Festival TEEJ 2011, so that our hardworking friends in Maiti Nepal can continue doing the great job of rescuing these women. Please join us for this great cause on 20th August, Saturday in San Francisco. We have typical Nepali food, great music, and the amazing stories behind the Maiti Nepal Organization; all for  $20. Lets support this great cause together and make an enormous difference. All genders, ages, and ethnic groups are warmly welcome!

Thank you on behalf of the Cheli group.
